Hahaha, your sarcastic style really shines through this one. I might not be American, but I could relate to some much of what you shared. Really, why must everything be turned into a skill?

I think it's this constant drive to pursue more we've instilled in ourselves. Hustling, grinding, life optimization, "hacking" the latest productivity trend. Whatever name it goes by, I think it all ties in to why many people feel like they're constantly having to do something and have it contribute to the overall whole. It's really hard for everyone to disconnect and just stare at a cloud anymore, and I include myself in that.

I swear....we must make staring at the clouds a skill!

The American Dream: Buying shit we don’t need with money we don’t have.

Hobbies should be about finding joy or some sense calm.

I like to paint, work with clay, I cook and bake. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and nobody has to like it but me. No one is opening gallery exhibits for me anytime soon.

And if the process of creating stresses me out, then it isn’t doing its job.

I’d love to pick up a musical instrument, over the course of my life I have tried piano, violin, guitar, and the flute. I always wanted to try the saxophone, and have considered getting a harp. But, I have no patience for the learning curve and no time to dedicate to learning them. It is what it is, and I enjoy and appreciate other’s music instead.
